I first attended an Earthfire retreat about 20 years ago, and I returned again this past fall. Both times, entering their beautiful grounds, I felt a deep sorrow and a deep sense of gratitude for the existence of this sacred place and the work being done by their dedicated staff. I realized how disconnected to the natural world my daily life had become and the retreats reminded me how essential it is to maintain connection with these sentient beings and the natural world for our survival. I left feeling a renewed dedication to maintaining, strengthening and preserving my connection with these beings and the natural world. And a desire to protect what I most love.

Welcoming retreat leaders from a variety of focuses, Earthfire Institute is a working wildlife sanctuary and retreat center that offers multi-day programs unlike any other. There are many places people can go for healing, reflection, and connecting with nature, but very few offer intimate, immersive encounters with rescued wild animals on their native land. Retreats held at Earthfire are grounded by the land and our animal ambassadors, providing a profound sense of presence. Earthfire Institute is both a refuge for reflection and a path for exploring one’s work through new eyes.

Something Special is Taking Shape for 2027

Our 2027 retreat calendar is beginning to unfold, and it promises to be a year of learning, reflection, connection, and discovery.

We’re exploring potential retreats with renowned Buddhist scholar David Loy and movement and energy practitioner K’Lea Andreas, along with several new Earthfire inspirational retreats designed to deepen our connection with wildlife, nature, and the living world.
