Susan was a keynote speaker at this year’s Cortona Friends Conference: 2024 Science and the Wholeness of Life. Her presentations focused on Reconnection Ecology®, in which she shared paradigm-shifting stories and videos of what is possible with wild animals and how that can help move us toward expanding human consciousness to connect with all life.
The ultimate aim of Cortona Week is to forge and catalyze a new class of world leaders, reinforcing ethics and human dignity.
Cortona Week was founded in 1985 thanks to the support of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. Ranked among the best universities in Europe, the Institute hosts this interdisciplinary, non-orthodox, residential summer school. The event has featured world-renowned professionals and visionaries, including Nobel Laureates and MacArthur award recipients, from the whole range of intellectual disciplines: scientific, humanistic, spiritual, and artistic, as well as economists, politicians, and entrepreneurs.
Cortona Week’s goal is to introduce to participants the values of ecology, ethics, tolerance, and internal introspection, as well as the actual new frontiers of science, literature, art, and economics — the full display of human experience — where life becomes a system view of interacting parts, and not single isolated domains. Holistic, systemic thinking is generally not provided by common academic institutions — which form specialists in only one discipline – and the problems of our world cannot be solved or even tackled by only one discipline at a time.
