Nyah’s Letter

Earthfire’s Impact
Earthfire Institute retreat participants gathered in a circle in the yurt

As we move through Earthfire’s 25th year, we will be celebrating the impact Earthfire has had on our visitors—visitors like twelve-year-old Nyah and her mother, who joined us for the Planetary Flow Retreat held in September of last year. With her permission, we share a portion of the lovely letter she sent to Susan:

Dear Susan,

The experiences we had at Earthfire had a lasting impact on me. From the howling wolves, to the beautiful landscape, it was such an interesting experience. It almost felt as if the land—along with us, and the amazing animals—was breathing. It was alive. The synchronicity of the creatures there was incredible.

I will forever hold a special place in my heart for Earthfire, the people, the botany, and of course, the animals.

The stories you shared while we were in the yurt were truly inspiring, and I think it is amazing that you communicate to your guests how you value their opinion on your stories instead of judging others for what they receive.

Unknown by us, as we were sharing our stories in the yurt, Jean was connecting to the animals as he experienced his final breath.

The silence that fell over the property was astonishing—it felt as if there was a kind of calm. I admire you so much to know that you could continue letting us enjoy Earthfire at that time.

Thank you so much. I will cherish this place in my heart. I do hope we will be able to return on another planetary flow retreat. You really have created an amazing wonderland of animals!

Thank you again, Susan.

Love, Nyah
